Sadie Mattley was our first cook with meals being prepared at the Church of Christ in Bradman Street and moving at a later date to Our Lady of Fatima.
In May 1991, Acacia Ridge Meals on Wheels moved to our present kitchen in Coley Street with the official opening of the kitchen held on 6 June 1991. Meals were cooked on the premises, however in early 2006 a decision was made to begin providing meals prepared by Nutri Fresh.
We are a community service that operates with assistance from the Queensland Government and the Australian Government. As a not-for-profit organisation, we rely on the ongoing generosity and commitment of volunteers to donate their time so that we can provide nutritious meals to our clients for either short o
r long term periods.
Acacia Ridge Meals on Wheels helps frail older people, younger people with a disability and their carers to receive nutritious meals at a low cost. We also provide meals to people who require post-hospital support as well as emotional support, perhaps following the loss of a spouse.
